Private Treatments Costs

In addition to our NHS services, orthodontic treatment for children and adults is available on a private basis.

Why consider Private treatment:

Private treatment is an option for children who do not meet the new NHS restriction criteria for orthodontic treatment. However all adult patients are treated on a private basis.

Since April 2006, the Department of Health and the local Primary Care Trust have placed restrictions on provision of orthodontic care, limiting treatment to the more severe and needy patients. This means that not all children are eligible for NHS treatment. Private orthodontic treatment has become more popular and is much more affordable than you might think.

Treatment costs:

The cost of treatment varies depending on the complexity and needs of each patient, and can start at £900 for very simple cases. The average cost for children is £1995 for the entire treatment. For adults the costs can vary depending on the exact nature of the treatment but may range between £2200 and £4500 for most problems. The majority of patients/parents find it useful to spread the costs monthly over the first 12 months of the treatment duration. There are no credit charges for spreading the costs.

Advantages of private treatment:

Our orthodontic treatment is provided by highly trained Specialists, registered on the UK General Dental Council Specialist List (

The most modern and highly efficient orthodontic equipment is used which produces quicker and more comfortable treatments. The option of aesthetic or tooth coloured braces are commonly used for adults. Where possible conveniently timed appointments are offered (after school or work).

What to do next:

If you are interested in considering Private treatment or have any questions, please phone the surgery on 02392 8396773.
